When I saw this muck overhead I actually had to dig around on the Internet to figure out which fire it was coming from, as there wasn't anything substantial burning near our home at the time.

That's the sun through the smoke from a fire nearly 100 miles south
of us. The photo doesn't do the colors real justice, though. It
was more of a sickly, orange-brown than is shown here. Clearly the
stuff in the sky was smoke and not clouds.
